Primary Responsibilities:
The Showroom Sales Associate is responsible for all customer requests, such as order processing, product application, product substitution, price and availability information, shipment coordination, special quotations, and order expediting. In addition, this customer is the liaison between the customer and other departments, including purchasing, accounting, warehouse, internet sales, marketing, and management.
- Achieve established sales and margin objectives.
- Give customer price and availability information.
- Recognize when special pricing is required, and provide competitive quotations.
- Follow-up on all quotations in an attempt to write the order, or receive input for use in future quotations.
- Understand product applications and help customers in their selections.
- Be aware on product availability, including both in-stock items in our showroom as well as in manufacturer’s warehouses to advice accurate lead-times.
- Participation in training sessions when offered.
- Expedite customer orders as necessary to meet important deadlines.
- Actively participate in pro-active sales approaches, including telemarketing, social media marketing, workshops and seminars, and any other promotional activities to sustain an ongoing effort to contact and develop new customers.
- Assist in pricing and maintenance of showroom displays. Maintain customer literature and company pricing catalogs.
- Occasional site visits to review plans and decorating suggestions with potential clients with potential clients in order to develop product specifications and proposals.
- Assistance with online sales on GrandLight.com and elsewhere on the web.
- Highlight Grand Light’s custom lighting and restoration capabilities to showroom customers.
Key Functional Relationships:
- Establishment of close working relationships with major customers, suppliers, and manufacturers’ representatives.
- Identification of key competitors and development of mechanisms to track their activities and develop counter strategies in the marketplace.
Criteria:
- 3-5 years experience in sales and/or a related field, preferably in lighting and/or design.
- Available to work in our New Haven, CT showroom.
- Experience working with upscale residential clients in a sales environment. Ability to work with architects, designers, electricians, and members of the lighting trade.
